Emmmmmmmbarassing

This post makes me very anxious. You've been warned.

I've gained some a lot of weight.  My clothes are not fitting as well as they used to.  My shoulders have second shoulders from the arm fat displacement.  I can feel my double chin choking me when I am laying down.

Ok that last part is a bit of an exaggeration, but you get the picture.  Or do you?

Allow me to illustrate.

Here is me when I was smaller (not small... just smaller):

Here is me now:

No really, now:

Ok seriously, this is me now:

Shutter....

Yeah yeah yeah, its marriage weight. I got married and got comfortable.   Well, now I'm uncomfortable.

And if shaming myself online is the ticket to being at a healthy weight again, well then...

So here I am, shaming myself.  I will not tell you what I weigh (pssssh!), I will only tell you how many rolls separate me from a healthy weight.  21.

I promise you I am not writing this so that people will tell me I'm not fat, or that I'm nice, or that I have super nail beds (it's true).  I am doing this to snap my butt into some sort of shape through total and utter embarrassment.

And trust me, I'm embarrassed right now.

So gang (I know you're out there), should I post my loss/gain from each week?  Should I show you what I am eating?  Or should I just give into the sweet, slow slumber of obesity?

Leave a comment below and let me know what you think. Come on... you've never left a comment before, and all the cool kids are doing it.

Plus, this is some serious soul bearing stuff here, and I could use some support.  Get to it!

  1. Robin! While it's never comfortable being that honest and open, I'm really proud of you for allowing yourself to be vulnerable among friends. I think you look beautiful and very happy, but if you want to pursue this further I recommend a good blog by one of my best friends- honeyIShrunkTheGrethen.com. Gretchen was my college roommate and she has always been pretty in my eyes but she was not happy with her lifestyle so she decided to blog about her transformation. Weight and clothing sizes are so annoying because they can distract us (me) so much, but being healthy and happy will help us have a full life. I like reading your blog, so if you want to write about it, I'm sure lots I people will want to read and be inspired by it! Good luck!!!

  2. Don't give in! I will support you in whatever route you want to take to feel better about yourself. You have recently experienced my incredible nagging ability so if I need to use it for different purposes you just say the word. Bottom line though...the Owens clan loves you no matter what!

  3. Oh, words cannot describe how much I love you. I thoroughly enjoy reading about your experiences, regardless of how you share them. I must say though, I have particularly enjoyed reading about your work-outs and all the funny things that go through your head while you're doing them. I'm pretty sure there is never a dull moment in that Chandler dome piece, but those have been some of my favorite posts. I will support you, and read your blog, no matter what you do. And have I told you how awesome your nail beds are? :)

  4. I have the utmost respect for you for being this vulnerable. It's a tough thing to admit, but you have the strength to face it head on! I say make a plan, stick to it, find a great support system, and rock it out! I will support you and love every triumph you post. :)

  6. Love you Rob! I think a weight loss blog is an awesome idea. I will definitely read it and cheer you on! I think diet and exercise would both be interesting topics, since most people seem to grapple with healthy habits in one or both of those categories. (I have to admit: I'm a closet calorie counter, but I avoid most exercise that I can't smoke cigarettes while performing.) I will also say that posting weight loss on a schedule could be either very encouraging or very discouraging. I'd celebrate any victory, whether it's losing five pounds or resisting an ice cream sundae. Whatever you decide, I'm psyched for you. xoxox
