I never puked my heart out

This weekend, a really good friend of mine came to visit from a far away land known as Tennessee.  We are the kind of best friends who can go a month without talking, and we get back on track immediately.

While she was in town, we did silly things like watch trashy TV and sit around eating thai food. But when we were not being lazy bums, we were working out.  Let me tell you, this little lady is not afraid of some hard work.

One such work out was a run on the trail behind my house.

While we were running, she started going WAY faster than me.  At first I was excited for her. She is an awesome runner, and why shouldn't she run faster than me?   GO WHITNEY!

But of course, there is that part of every run where you want to punch even the sweetest squirrels in the face, and I started to get bitter.

She's faster than me.  Why wouldn't she be?
She weighs 100 pounds less than me.
I bet I'd be a superior being if I didn't have to
lug a half-absorbed twin around everyday.

Luckely, there is also that point in every run when you return to your senses.  When all the animals in the forest breath a sigh of relief, and your dear friend never has to know you hated her for .3 of a mile.

Besides my brief moment of contempt for my friend, it was an awesome weekend, and I kind of wish my husband would agree to move to TN.

I worked out. Questions?

I couldn't get my jelly moving yesterday, so I trolled Pinterest for motivation. This usually works, but I needed a little help in the form of my own motivational list.

Reasons to work out:
-If I work out tonight, I don't have to shower tomorrow morning.
-Because I'm fat.
-I get to see Bob Harper. Even if it was just on his workout DVD.
-My hair looks hecka cute in pony tail.
-I ate a bagel today.  I felt it solidify the line between two and three chins.

Just as motivating as the poster above, don't you think?  Welp, it did enough for me, since I can't cough without grunting in pain.

Sexy, huh?

Weigh-in #2

It’s been a while since I have checked in here about my tonnage issue. I mean, my weight issue.
To date, I have lost 7 pounds.  Slow going, but these are life changes, folks, not just a diet.  Diets come and go, much like waves of nausea when a co-worker uses 15 sprays of grocery store perfume.

These changes are here to stay.  I hope.
I would like to take a minute to say thank you all for your encouraging comments. I am serious when I say you guys were my sunshine.  :)
Right now, my motivation is two fold.  The first is vain... because that's part of this.  I want to look good at a wedding I am going to in October.  It will be full of my husbands family and I would love to not worry about people feeling bad for my husband or thinking I am pregnant. Which leads me to motivation number two.

I want to feel comfortable and to not look pregnant. No lie. I look preggers.  Full on six months without the glow.  To be honest, I’d better look a whole lot happier than this when I am with child.

Speaking of children, this weekend we are celebrating Your Not a Fathers Day!  Jeff and I have tried and tried, and we succeed every time in not making him a father.

Boom shaka.

Brittany and James. Charlottesville, VA Wedding

I got to know Brittany through her big brother, who was a fellow race director for Run For Their Lives, and I was thrilled when Brittany and James asked me to photograph their wedding.

Brittany and James are best friends who simply adore each other.  They were so excited to get married, and you could tell!  Say it with me... Awwww!

My favorite moment was when they were standing back to back with a door separating them reading the letters they wrote for each other.  Being able to see both of their faces when they held hands, and when they exchanged letters was so awesome.

Brittany's purple and green accents really popped, and made for a colorful day full of peacock feathers and the like.  And even though it rained, the bridal party rallied and pulled off some really fun shots.

Thanks again, Brittany and James, and congratulations!

I had to include this one. Please check out the bridal booty slap. Priceless.

Hello, gorgeous

I love James' face upon seeing his bride walking towards him.

Everyone's table card was a tape.  Love the details!
